I have united in marriage the aforementioned parties

That is how it is expressed in the State of Texas. I am sure there are many other equally acceptable ways to express the same idea.

disagree Khalid Alkodah : This is a Christian formula!!! Besides, the Sheikh didnot unite ... but concluded the contract.

This formula is copied verbatim from my marriage certificate, which is not Christian. There is nothing peculiarly Christian about uniting in marriage. This formual is one of many common formulas used in English idiom.
neutral Hassan Al-Haifi (wordforword) : In Yemen, the standardd contract is the parent of the bride or her agent make the contract and declare أنكحك ابنتي ...,and there is no one who can unite the parties except themselves! The groom represents himself I forgot to add. No religious authority

Regardless of who is present at the exchange of vows, it is the spouses who are united, not their parents. The spouses are the ministers of their own unity in many traditions, not just in Yemen, but this formula is a standard formula in English idiom.
