Però no entenem del tot (suposo que els lectors, tampoc) per què no són acceptables rafting, catering o doping: no hi ha cap paraula viva de la llengua que designi aquests conceptes; són fàcilment adaptables fonèticament (només caldria afegir-hi l’accent: ràfting, càtering, dòping), i potser només en el cas de dòping cal tenir en compte la formació de mots derivats (dopar-se, antidopatge...) Sembla que càtering i ràfting són manlleus molt estesos i fàcilment adaptables al sistema gràfic i fònic del català. No veig quina diferència hi pot haver entre un càsting (una prova de selecció d’actors)  i un càtering (servei d’àpats).

I had never heard this term being used like this in English, but I found several North American sites talking about caterings. See the references below for more info. So, maybe the Catalans are simply copying this (American?) term? Ves a saber. In any case, I hope this helps you, Jon.
