Vicat Softening Point The Vicat softening point, measured by ASTM D 1525 (ISO 306) procedures, is the temperature at which a flattened needle of 1 mm 2 cross section, and under a specified constant load, penetrates a specimen of the plastic to a depth of 1 mm.
