'Vzpřimování': I've seen 'standing up' and one or two other dubious translations for this. Does it refer simply to the ability to straighten the body?

delays in erect posture (walking)
This potentially happens with low muscle tone in infants. You could use "delayed erection" as a short version but the word "erection" has been lost to misues and abuse on the Internet :-)

Thank you. 'Upright posture' would be another option. |

retarded ability to stand up
See reference, for 8-month babies:
V tomto období děti zúročí všechny dovednosti, které se naučily v předchozím období a začnou objevovat prostor nad sebou, vzpřimují se do vertikály a díky velké touze dosáhnout na hračky mimo dosah se začnou pohybovat vpřed lezením.
Of course, "vzpřimování" could refer also to achieving seated position (vzpřimování do sedu), so this could apply to much younger children...
But without anything else said, I would say this really refers to verticalization.

"delayed ability to stand up" could also be an option
