subject to a right of/to levy/ distraint

Almost the same as distress - which is usually associated in the UK/Ireland with non-payment of rent - whilst distraint is also used as a threat for non-payment of tax by the UK HMRC/Revenue & Customs.

Both are part of the overall 'levy of execution' picture.

Example sentence:

For krav, som er tillagt udpantningsret, er fuldbyrdelsesfristen 7 dage efter dagen for meddelelse om forretningen, jf. § 493, stk. 3. § 486.

'I called today to collect the above debt or levy distraint on your goods and ... it has yet been sorted as I was told it had been put right a month ago!'

udpantningsret is the right to use a lien on property or capital, i.e. foreclosure, to force payment of a debt. "pantefogeden" has always sounded like the worst boogeyman, though I have never actually seen one. But he would be the one to enact legal proceedings to liquidate your assets to pay a debt, or taxes. The very mention of the "pantefogeden" is enough to scare anyone, or at least it used to be. He would be an officer of the court, and he would show up with the sheriff if necessary, or the court would foreclose and sell your property.
