Dutch term
'portie gemengd'
Dutch to English

Food & Drink
Hallo,
bedankt!

Selected
(sliced) (small) cheese and salami platter / serving of cheese and salami
could also be cold cuts if salami was just by way of example for meat

Mixed-grill bestaat... Niet zo chic om medebeantwoorder een "disagree" te geven...

: Hmm. Looks like EdithK might be onto something. It seems as if this side dish might actually be a portion or serving.

refs (aka "To be or not be a side dish…")
Oxforddictionaries.com:
side dish:
Def.: A dish served as subsidiary to the main one:
Usage example: both were served with an excellent side dish of fresh vegetables
--------------------------
Van Dale EN-NL:
side-dish (telbaar zelfstandig naamwoord) =
bijgerecht
tussengerecht
--------------------------
The question remains though: who are Cheese and Salami, and how do they know the inscrutable Mr Gemengd? Do they live inside slices of bread, or are they served reclining on a plate? Is the plate large or small? Stay tuned! Much more research will be required to get to the bottom of this mystery.

Het zou gaan om een aperitiefhapje :) |

: zie je bij snacks, this is what asker wrote, so it's a snack, maybe with wine instead of a meal, maybe for breakfast, but does it matter in the least? No mystery whatsoever. // In this case you could have fooled me though I have a good sense of humour

writeaway
: definitely not a side dish in English. I've always seen it as a borrelhapje along with bitterballen, etc. doesn't need any mountain-out-of-a-molehill research effort. not exactly rocket science.

Jeez, do I need to spell it out: I WAS J☺KING. Wow, talk about lost in translation. Furthermore, I didn't post these refs in support of "side dish" being the correct translation. I just wanted to provide a bit of info on what a side dish is.

"Op Nederlandstalige menukaarten zie je bij snacks wel eens 'portie kaas', 'portie salami' en 'portie gemengd' (kaas+salami) staan."
maar horen die porties nou bij/in een broodje of worden ze apart op een bordje geserveerd?
portie gemengd = mixed serving
Or how about just dropping the "portie" altogether; just "mixed". That'd probably work.
'portie kaas', 'portie salami' en 'portie gemengd'
=
'cheese', 'salami' and 'mixed'
or
'cheese', 'salami' and 'two options'
