agree David Walker (X) : Yes, it's the one rank that the Australian & British navies do not have and since the rank does not have command capability, Able Seaman has preference over Leading Seaman.

If this is for US English, Seaman would probably be the right rating; the lower ratings being Seaman recruit and Seaman apprentice.
