Dutch to French mistranslation?

néerlandais vers français Autre Poésie et littérature
Hi,

I'm translating a document from French to English, but the writer was Belgian, so I'm wondering if the phrase I can't understand might be a mistranslation/direct translation from Flemish/Dutch.

The term is "la dent du coq t'ayant mordu," which for those of you who don't speak French literally means "having been bitten by the rooster's tooth."

Je sais que tu es sorti de l'hopital... et que, la dent du coq t'ayant mordu, tes vêtements sont depuis six ans suspendus dans toutes sortes plus ou moins élégantes de vestiaires...

Any ideas? Thanks!

The text is about Marcel Broodthaers, the artist. I believe he committed suicide. The letter is written either by a very good friend or a lover.
