Dear all,

What is "key lime" in Arabic? The chef says "It is tarter than a regular lime"

** I used to translate "lemon" as ليمون أصفر and "lime" as ليمون أخضر
and here come the "key lime"!! and guess what? It's Yellow!! :S

But Ms. Lamis, we can say then ليمون تاهيتي أو مكسيكي and I think this is misleading. The chef says the "key lime" is tarter than the regular lime. So since we translate "lime" as ليمون أخضر we can translate "key lime" as ليمون أخضر لاذع or even ليمون لاذع . Also you mentioned that حامض will be a bit misleading for any lebanese who will watch the episode.
What do you all think?

ليمون أخضر

هو أصغر أنواع الليمون وأقلها حموضة ورائحة ولذلك بشيع استعماله في صناعة الحلوى والجاتوهات . كلمة KEY تنويها إلى مصدر الثمار في بلدة كي في جنوب فلوريدا بالولايات المتحدة
هذا النوع شائع في مصر وهو الليمون البلدي
