English term or phrase: Hey, you, have you turned the printer off?
Hi there,

I’m a bit of a stranger around these parts, as I am more active on the German-English and French-English pairings.

I am looking for a translation of the above phrase for my Catalan office partner, who keeps on forgetting to turn my laser printer off when she works late. Having given this some thought, I am convinced that the best solution would be to hang a sign on the door saying "Hey, you, have you turned the printer off?" in Catalan slang ...

Can anyone tell me how to say this in Catalan – the more outrageous the better (without being insulting, of course). As I don’t speak Catalan, I am relying on peer comments to guide me.

Thanks all round!

Ian

Catalan translation:Cago en dena! Vols fer el favor d'apagar l'impressora?
Explanation:
Super slang: cago en dena! I don't know how to translate it. Maybe in german: Ach Du Scheisse, not offensive but contundent. He will be very surprise you found out that expression. And: will you turn the printer of???

Thanks all round - I've decided to use this one. I liked Susana's too, but I wanted a sign for the door, not the printer itself. All the best

Perphaps something like that: Recorda apagar l\'impressora després de usar-la. It is more polite than the first two.

agree  Judith Payro: I think this one is closer to the "outrageous" tone Ian is looking for. I would write "Cago'n". It is not offensive and it deffinitely catches the eye!

-> Gràcies, Judith. Yes, you're right, better "cago'n".

Ei, tu, ja has apagat la maleïda impressora?

Explanation:
"Maleïda" is a mild way of saying the F-word in Catalan. We use it when we're fed up with sth.
Hope it helps.

apaga'm, nena!

Explanation:
It might be catchy to have the printer address your co-worker (I happen to know it's a female, hence the "nena"). This roughly translates as "turn me off, doll!". I guess it depends on how much informality you can get away with.

Another option: "oi que avui m'apagaràs, xatona?" (roughly: "today you'll turn me off, won't you sweetie?"
