An online Chinese online retailer marketed massage chair made in China. Material stated in English is "leather", while in Chinese is "皮革".
Later, the retailer was sued by a disappointed buyer in a U.S. Court for misrepresentation of the goods. Massage chair is made of high quality synthetic leather. Chinese retailer's attorney argued "皮革" was a general term for "leather" or "synthetic leather".
Nonetheless, Judge ruled that leather is made of animal skin, not synthetic material, high quality or not. Therefore, it was a misrepresentation on the website.

The judge is correct. Put what the Chinese noun means, Leather in English means animal skin. It doesn't matter what the Chinese mean, it is the translation that is misleading.
