"Brightness Test:
The method is that a light from a single source is focused and directed through an aperture onto the dogbone at an angle of 45 degrees and the reflected light passes through a filter having standard spectral characteristics and is then measured by a photodetector located perpendicular to the upper surface of the dogbone. The amount of reflected light is compared with magnesium oxide, which has known spectral characteristics which are stored in the instruments memory. The ratio of the reflected light to the magnesium oxide is expressed as a percentage.
