............ être aussi douce/ avoir l'air aussi onctueuse qu'un velouté

Je crois qu'en fait c'est une comparaison, expliquant la consistance que sont censées avoir des surfaces en métal galvanisé. Je me trompe peut être, mais "hot dip" ne serait-il pas ici littérallement un "dip", une sauce genre sour cream ou honey mustard, qui rappelle l'aspect lisse et doux du métal galvanisé?
Je vais peut être un peu trop loin... qu'en pensez-vous?
