Power whip

anglais vers français Technique / Génie Mécanique / génie mécanique Electrical
I'm searching for a French translation for the name of this cable. It seems to me that "câble d'alimentation" is not enough... What do you think?

Here is the definition of the power whip : https://www.arnoldsofficefurniture.com/what-is-a-power-whip/

Tony M Sep 7, 2017:
@ Germaine (cont.) Now each of these individual devices will of course have its own power cable/cord — which could well be a 'câble d'alimentation'.
HOWEVER, what is being described here is a very specific type of semi-fixed wiring, VERY OFTEN fabricated from a flexible tube of some kind, as it may contain different types of cabling; but it's primary role is first and foremost to provide a master power supply to the various socket outlets etc. used for onward local distribution within the workstation.
Tony M Sep 7, 2017:
@ Germaine The trouble is, it is essential to maintain a distinction between a simle 'supply cord/cable' and this specific 'power whip', whose function is slightly different, as explained in Asker's link.
Whether or not my own suggestion is the best solution, it cannot be denide that it is one possible solution for at least one type of 'power whip'.
As an electrical engineer myself, I know how important it is to maintain these subtle distinctions, and a dumbing down ad absurdum is indavisable for lots of reasons.

To quote Asker's ref. (though I don't entirely approve of some of the wording!):

"In electricians’ speak, a power whip (AKA a base power infeed or base feed module) is type of cable that converts a fixed-in-place device to a modular asset.
...
In office furniture speak, a power whip is a 4- to 6-foot-long cable that connects the building’s main power supply to the electrical system contained within the panels of cubicles or workstations. The power whip is what delivers the juice to the computers, phones and other devices your employees use..."

Sakuranbo, Et pourtant, il ne s'agit que d'un simple "câble (d'alimentation) électrique", ce que confirme d'ailleurs la description qui en est faite. En voici d'autres:
https://www.homedepot.ca/fr/accueil/resultats.html?q="cable ...

La particularité de celui que vous illustrez est qu'il est sous gaine souple étanche. Mais la "gaine souple" est courante en tant que telle. Voyez, par exemple:
https://www.homedepot.ca/fr/accueil/resultats.html?q="cordon...

Deux ou trois fils isolés (et parfois 4 fils) assemblés sous une gaine constituent un cable électrique. Un "faisceau d'alimentation", c'est tout autre chose et notamment:

faisceau d'alimentation sous gaine souple

I don't know if there is a more concise standard term for it (I hope there is!), but this might be one way of describing what is seen and described in your reference.

Note that as you rightly say, "câble d\'alimentation" would amount to under-translation here.

disagree Germaine : Voir discussion.// Sur la seule base de l'illustration fournie, j'en doute. Reste que si tu cherches "faisceau...", on parle d'autre chose. And the back-translation seems to be "Power (supply) harness".

While I agree that other better suggestions might exist, I don't think it is possible to state categorically that this could NEVER be right. / That's an oversimplification, 'faisceau' can have MANY translations in EN, especially EN-US.

neutral Tony M : That's a plumbing term, I'm not convinced it is used in an electrical context.
