Slang / music scene
English term or phrase: split the hat
You pull up to the back of a bar in some remote town in anywhere Canada, nice people meet you inside.
You carry in the gear, the sound guy is, well odd and difficult, but you set up.
The crowd forms, large or small, and you lay down a solid two sets and entertain the shit out of them.
Then you drink your one free beer, get paid, 20 buck each, then split the hat, another 10, load up and head for the next town.
That’s the Canadian music scene.
