Community psychiatric nurses (CPNs)

Role

o A CPN sees people who are living in the community. This is most often in the person's own home but it can also be in clinics based, for example, in a GP's surgery.

o CPNs provide support to people through difficult periods of their illness. They may also see patients who are currently well to check everything is going okay and be the first point of contact if the patient starts becoming unwell again.

o A CPN will help patients with their medication and make sure that the patient understands what they should be taking and when.

o Because CPNs see patients in their own homes, they also play a valuable role in helping the patient's family and carers understand and cope with the illness.

o Patients may be referred to CPNs from a number of sources including GPs, psychiatrists and inpatient wards so that the CPN can help the patient's transition from hospital back into the community.

o CPNs are often a patient's keyworker.

Όταν το κείμενο που παραθέτω αναφέρεται σε "GP clinic" εννοεί το ιατρείο του παθολόγου του. Δηλ. όταν κάποιος για κάποιο λόγο, δεν θέλει ή δεν μπορεί να δεχτεί στο σπίτι επίσκεψη, κανονίζεται ραντεβού στο ιατρείο του General Practitioner. Αυτό μπορεί να γίνει για διάφορους λόγους. Κάθε άτομο στην Αγγλία έχει και τον δικό του GP (συνήθως είναι μεγάλος χώρος με πολλούς ιατρούς), στον οποίο απευθύνεται για ό,τι χρειάζεται και ο οποίος τον παραπέμπει ανάλογα. Αυτά τα λέω γιατί έχω first-hand επαγγελματική μη-μεταφραστική πείρα στο χώρο.

Μερικές διευκρινίσεις: τα τελευταία χρόνια έχει περάσει η τάση να μεταφράζεται το "community nursing" ως "κοινοτική νοσηλευτική". Ωστόσο, είναι ένα πράγμα το "community" και άλλο το "κοινοτική". Δεν σημαίνουν το ίδιο, βλ. Μπαμπινιώτη για παράδειγμα.

Community nursing->Κοινωνική νοσηλευτική ή (με μικρή επιφύλαξη) οικιακή/οικογενειακή νοσηλευτική.

Τέλος, υπάρχει στα Αγγλικά και Health Visitor αλλά, ο ρόλος τους δεν ταυτίζεται με τον δικό μας Επισκέπτη Υγείας.

Γενικά, οι αρμοδιότητες μεταξύ των Αγγλικών κι Ελληνικών επαγγελματικών τίτλων δεν συμπίπτουν.

agree  Krisztina Lelik: GP ΔΕΝ είναι παθολόγος, έχει ειδικότητα στην γενική ιατρική. http://www.synigoros.gr/reports/porisma_geniki_Iatriki.pdf // Ισως γιατί εδώ το άσκουν οι παθολόγοι χωρίς να έχουν την κατάλληλη ειδικότητα (δες το λινκ)

  -> Ναι Κριστίνα, σ' ευχαριστώ. Την ξέρω την Γενική Ιατρική, αλλά ο ρόλος των GPs είναι σχεδόν ο ίδιος με των παθολόγων στην Ελλάδα. Δεν ξέρω βέβαια αν ταυτίζονται ως αντικείμενο.
