Szerintem itt az index azt jelenti, hogy mutatni vagy jelezni valamit. Feltehetőleg azt a vizsgálati eljárást jelenti, amellyel megállapítják, hogy mi a baja a betegnek.

Nem a szakterületem, úgyhogy csak erős tippként kell felfogni, de én erre tudok gondolni.
