株式の種類


Explanation:
これは普通株とか優先株という特定の株のことではないと思いますよ。というのはa corporation with a class of shares listed on a prescribed stock exchange という文章を読むと所定の株式交換(市場)にリストアップされている種類の株式を持っているという文意でしょう?
だからこの場合はそのリストに記載されている種類の株をもっていても所有者がひとりだけであれば、コントロールできるだけの株はもてないのでだめだという、なにかの制限条件のひとつにあてはまる会社のことでしょう?
だから普通株とか優先株といった種類のことではなく、もっと一般的なものをいっていることになります。
これが私の解釈です。あまり場違いではないと思います。

agree  kokuritsu: 「特定の株のことではない」に賛成です。確かに普通株、優先株、劣後株、混合株など多彩ですが、それらの何らかの株式を規定の証券取引所に上場している企業、と解します。

上場していない株


Explanation:
”listed on a prescribed stock exchage”については、”list”に「上場する」という意味があし、いかも”stock exchage”と続きますから、Askerの解釈で間違いないと思います。
上場しない(種類の)株式については、たとえばサントリーなどは株式を上場していませんから、ありえます。
