A link for your reading pleasure Explanation: 著作権侵害について。 -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2002-02-28 16:31:07 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- well, I looked for a while but I couldn¥'t find a match either. But I from what I gather, 回線容量泥棒 seems appropriate. I think most Japanese are more concerned with the copyright issue of intellectual properties more than anything.. 著作物窃盗・泥棒 回線泥棒 (this is used for phone theft, but the idea is similar) -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2002-03-01 04:58:47 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Check this out: http://www.popkmart.ne.jp/hp_agreement.html it¥'s a 利用規約 from one of those free HP sites. Look in the 転送ファイルのルール. Should give you more clues, hopefully.. Reference: http://www.cric.or.jp/qa/multimedia/multi15_qa.html |

帯域窃盗 or 帯域的窃盗 or 帯域幅の窃盗 Explanation: 帯域窃盗 or 帯域的窃盗 or 帯域幅の窃盗(Tai-iki settou) (Tai-iki-teki settou) (Tai-iki-haba no settou) These are my best bets if you want a direct translation for the term. The term "Bandwidth theft" is not directly used often in Japanese. Instead they would say something like 電子的窃盗 and then elaborate how "bandwidth is being illegaly stolen." google.com search hits: 0 for 帯域窃盗, however for 帯域 and 窃盗 separated, there were various hits. If you're looking for something more specifc, you may want to mix in 著作(copyright), 知的財産(intellectual property), and such to your search. Hope this helps. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2002-02-28 17:42:23 (GMT) -------------------------------------------------- for ¥"direct linking¥" and ¥"hotlinking¥" 直リンク and 無断リンク are appropriate. and usually 転載禁止 goes along when mentioning copyright rights (著作権) As for the copyright laws in Japan, sorry I can¥'t help as Ia¥'m not too sure, but I think it¥'s illegal in Japan also... but that¥'s just my assumption. |

バンド幅泥棒(無断借景によるサーバー負担増) Explanation: I would use the above type of construction the first time and the バンド幅泥棒 or whatever the rest of the time. 借景comes from Japanese gardening--"borrowing" a mountain, etc. for a backdrop. My clients alternate between バンド幅 and 大域幅--frequently within the same manual. What's the name for slummer dwellers stealing electricity from overhead power lines? Very common in India. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 2002-03-01 08:25:19 (GMT) Post-grading -------------------------------------------------- 直リンク = direct link? While sky2.cool.ne.jp/p1/abc.html (直リンクとは, 当方の画像に直接リンクを貼¥る事を指します) defines 直リンク with this limited meaning, http://homepage2.nifty.com/f1home/scsilinks.html (SCSIドライバ・ダウンロードページへの直リンク) and so many other pages found by Google use the term in the neutral direct link (直接リンク) sense of bypassing the ad-laden intro pages--I believe the English term is tunneling--to get directly to the desired material. No illegality involved. |
