Difference between "operating" and "operational"

inglês para português Adm./Finanças Contabilidade Operations
When I refer to Operational System or Operating system. What is the difference? If I say Operational Entry made to a book or OPerating entry? Could anyone help me?

Creio que, em geral, se diz só "operating system" para se referir ao Linux, Windows, MacOS e assim por diante. "Operational", para mim, dá a ideia de algo que está funcionando, que está ativo; então, "operating entry" seria uma entrada relacionada ao sistema operacional, relacionada ao *modo* de funcionamento, enquanto que "operational entry" seria uma entrada *que está ativa/funcionando/fazendo efeito". Mas não sei se é essa a distinção que você precisa, Raquel.

Não sei se ajuda nesse caso, mas em informática o OS, operating system, é normalmente traduzido para sistema operacional. Talvez seja o caso de procurar as duas expressões para ver como são usadas..

Raquel, in accounting, use "operating entries" rather than "operational entries." Operational has a different connotation. A machine is operational. In accounting, we say operating revenues, operating income, operating expenditures, sometimes "income from operations," etc. This is my recommendation.
