Nu sunt convinsă că expresia „imperiu mandarin” ar fi suficient de inteligibilă; în plus, nici nu am găsit referințe. Cum s-ar putea reda această metaforă în română, asfel încât să reiasă clar ce vrea să spună autorul?

Cred că „mandarin” are aici sensul de „influential or powerful government official or bureaucrat” sau „member of an elite or powerful group or class”.
