#5 leadpipe
This pipe has ***much less distinct slots*** for those who prefer the feel of the vintage Martin Committee. Similar to the 7, this pipe has resistance earlier in the air column. A very dark and diffused leadpipe, the 5 is very unique!
Не пойму, о чем тут речь. Cама leadpipe – это часть трубы (муз. инструмента): прямая трубка, в которую вставляется мундштук, в отличие от bell – конической части с раструбом.
А вот что под distinct slots имеется в виду?

попался на вот таком форуме forum.saxontheweb.net/archive/index.php/t-90702.html вот такой отрывок:
Interesting that one of the characteristics of the Martin Committee was that it didn't "slot" well:
"As I understand it, the unique feature of the older Committees that was so much dug by the vintage jazz players was the fact that the Committees did NOT slot well. Rather than bite into a pitch, the Committees easily slid up and down on a pitch. I feel that about my 1949 Committee and use it for that effect. Players, like Miles, who loved to manipulate individual pitches, naturally gravitated to the Committee. Of course, that's the same feature that others describe as difficult intonation."
There has been a lot of discussion on SOTW recently about whether or not "slotting" is a good thing in saxophone design.
по-моему, получается вполне логично. ни о каких других слотах здесь вроде бы речь идти не может
