English term

melt-orienting

English to Spanish Tech/Engineering Chemistry; Chem Sci/Eng Polymers
xxx® and xxx® LCP are part of a family of halogen-free, high-performance liquid crystal
polymers with exceptionally precise and stable dimensions. These highly crystalline, thermotropic
(melt-orienting) thermoplastics are distinguished from other semi-crystalline plastics by their
special molecular structure, which consists of rigid, rod-like macromolecules that form liquid
crystal structures in the melt phase.

macromolecularmente ordenados

Derretible

Hello, Mandrade77!

In this case the "(melt-orienting)" serves just as an additional explanation for the term "thermotropic (thermoplastics)", which means that the chemical order of components of thermoplastics is determined or changed depending on temperature. You can omit translating "(melt-orienting)" since it does not add any additional value to the text. Optionally, "(derretible)" may be used.

Hope this helps :-)
Peer comment(s):

disagree Alex Ossa : melt-orienting refers to how the components align in a melt phase, and derretible does not mean or explain this concept. It also suggests there is a "non-meltable" variant, which is not the case.
