wonky and wonkish it is true that a wonk according to internet can mean very detailed....
but allso many people when talking Yiddish English, say nineish a m for about 9 am in the morning, and the author may be using wonkish as a diminutive ending to mean that is is sort of wonky
Wonkish translate as sort of wonky,
wonky meaning that it is not straight, it is not to be depended on, a chair with a wonky leg, is not safe to stand on.....
