covenanted civil servant of pakistan Pakistan ka Paband-e-Ehd Shehri Mulaazim پاکستان کا پابند عہد شہری ملازم Explanation: Covenanted = پابند عہد یا پابند اقرار - One who is bound by covenant (عہد یا اقرار) or undertaking (but not oath) . This word is primarily used for the agreement or bargain which was made between God and Israliites. Civil = شہری Servant = ملازم -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 10 hrs (2006-04-14 07:50:29 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Civil servant is, no doubt, an employee of Government or 'Sarkaar' but his/her services are mainly for the شہری or 'Civic' purposes, therefore he/she is classified as a 'Civil Servant'. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 13 hrs (2006-04-14 10:52:14 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- I think the word 'Shehri' شہری given by me has been misunderstood. It has nothing to do with 'citizen' or 'foreigner'. By this word, I meant an employee of those Govt departments ie Civil (other than the Armed forces) who deal with providing the civic amenities or matters which pertain to social developement in the country. |
