I agree with Vaclav, unless, of course, you have to translate it into another language. Then, you'll want to know what it stands for.

DS is DS Unless there is a suspicion that the abbreviation has remained in another source language, rather than English, why change it, or even worry about what it stands for?

Totally agree with Federica. The Czech entry has more:
"SRT Technology, DS about 20 percent, will contain chlorine. Solid residues from reactor are only the mineral fraction. Do We need a chlorine separation in a mechanical treatment plant before?"

Some context might help. Environment and ecology is not enough. This acronym has lots of possible solutions. One of them is dry solid. What is the text about?
