English term

push through

Non-PRO English Other General / Conversation / Greetings / Letters push through
That’s one of the highest score I’ve seen in terms of someone’s capacity to push themselves through that lactate.

Does it means push themselves to get through this level of lactate?

The athlete got through VO2 max test.

Thanks in advance,

To push through means to succeed despite all odds and difficulties. The task is not an easy job but with strong determination and inner strength, I pushed through.

Sjaatoul Gosh ... Shaatoul .. the original is so badly worded! My athletes, both experienced veterans and novice alike, often express concern that their triathlete friends have recently undergone exercise testing to determine their V02 max or lactate threshold (LT). They ask me whether or not they should be tested too. I usually answer by asking another question; "Do you know what V02 max and LT actually measure?" Usually, they don't.

V02 max and LT tests can be valuable tools used to train athletes to reach their maximum potential. https://www.active.com/triathlon/articles/lactate-threshold-...

keep going

"As you continue to run faster and demand more energy, the production of lactic acid will slowly increase. At some point, whether it be too fast a pace or holding a steady pace for too long, the production of lactic acid will soar and your body will no longer be able to convert lactate back into energy."

So it means they keep going despite the rising accumulation of lactate in their bodies.

To get this level of lactate

Peer comment(s):

disagree philgoddard : This is a different meaning of "push through" that makes no sense in the context.

disagree Lydia De Jorge : This is wrong. Not to 'get to this level' but 'in spite of this level'

penetrate and pass through

maintain going
Peer comment(s):

neutral Lydia De Jorge : Penetrate? I'm afraid this is not the right meaning.

disagree Yvonne Gallagher : NOT "penetrate" and "maintain going" is not idiomatic English. I think you want Phil's "keep going"
