English term

palatos

English Art/Literary History
"That's true. You don't understand. The Romans broadcast the pharaonic disease like grain farmers scattering the seeds of next season's harvest – Caesars, kaisers, tsars, imperators, caseris...*palatos*...damned pharaohs!"

Just like my last question, "palatos" seems to have a little pronouncing but no meaning connection with "imperators" or any kind of emperor. Is it an illogical word said thoughtlessly by the speaker, ie. the God Emperor, under excitement?
Thank you!

@ philgoddard Your guess is very inspiring. Yes, even if it's a nonsense word, it may related to something.

I wonder if it's anything to do with this, which fits the context perfectly:

palace king/lord/ruler/prince or similar

Like the previous question I am guessing that this is just a coined term as is done so often by Herbert. It's intended for an English readership and the first thing this unknown word would suggest to me would be something to do with palaces. I suggest you concoct some word to do with palaces...lord/ruler/prince of the palace, or such

Glad to help. It must be a very difficult translation to do. Good luck!

And yes, the reference Phil gave in relation to palatinate and palatine/paladin are all related to rulers, and palaces.
