Discussion

Ravi Kumar Sep 15, 2020:
All oral penicillins are best given on an empty stomach to avoid the absorption delay caused by food. The view is generally held that when given by mouth penicillin is destroyed by stomach acid and in consequence only very small amounts can be detected in the urine.1 In contrast, when given by intravenous or intramuscular injection, urine recoveries of penicillin were reported to average approximately 60 per cent.

The text is about ampicillin. The sentence doesn’t make sense to me, I think I’ll ask the agency to check and correct it. Thank you!

"Against which benzylpenicillin operates" would fit. What is the drug? It may be possible to find the correct version online.

The drug is composed of benzyl penicillin.

FYI penicillin G (benzyl penicillin) has higher acid stability and it works best on gram-positive bacteria.
