This book is about the decline of the Church’s view of Genesis 1–11, which has led to a catastrophic decline in believing in the absolute authority of the Word of God in the Church. Many Christian academics and church leaders have abandoned a literal understanding of Genesis, or have compromised part of Genesis, in their attempts to fit various aspects man’s historical science (beliefs) into the Bible [...]. Now many of these scholars are godly people who have a sincere burden to preach God’s Word and see people saved for eternity. However, I also believe they are in error on this issue — wittingly or unwittingly committing eisegesis and thus really undermining ***the authority they are really preaching from***.

Does this phrase simply mean that they are undermining the authority of God's Word, from which they are preaching, or does it imply something else?

I think you made it quite clear that many of these scholars are godly people who have a sincere burden to preach God’s Word. Most likely, they have this authority from God. Hence undermining this authority (quoting you) would mean that of the word of God and by extension God's authority.
