root opening Explanation: From the link: Anterior Cervical Discectomy: This is the most common surgical procedure used to treat disorders of the cervical spine. It involves enlarging the nerve root opening (intervertebral foramen) by removing the intervertebral disc, as well as the attached bone spurs that cause compression of the spinal sac and nerve roots. The incision is made in the front of the neck and the disc is partially or completely removed. A bone graft may be placed for fusion, but is not always required. The bone may fuse without placing a bone graft, if all the disc endplate is removed. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 7 hrs 7 mins (2005-05-21 05:33:48 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- intervertebral foramen = nikamien välinen huokosaukko Reference: http://www.spineuniverse.com/displayarticle.php/article76.ht... |
