French term or phrase: vitesse de chargement

Merci d'avance.

Rapidez no carregamento / no fornecimento

Explanation:

Well, whatever you believe, you should submit your evidence.
Or even find the original Portuguese from Brasil.

You could equally assume the text has been written by head office.

I will admit that "delivery speed" is on En sites, but this is not the same as the sources I have quoted.

Asker: Thanks Liz. It's true that loading is part of delivery, but speed of loading is not everything, since something loaded (onto a truck, ship, wagon) can then sit in a yard/harbour, take a circuitous route, etc. and be delivered anything but quickly, which does customers no good. I'm trying to get back to what the Portuguese that produced vitesse de chargement might have been and if it could reasonably have been translated more along the lines of 'delivery'. Armed with information along those lines, I can then go back to the customer and suggest they rethink their (into-French) translation.

Asker: Why change what is in front of me? Come, come, you know better than that! Why? Because that's what I do, and customers are grateful for it. When a text is illogical, there can be many reasons for it. When you know or suspect the text you are translating was originally in a third language, the possibility of poor translation (into French in my case) is often the first place to look. This is something I deal with regularly with several customers, notably with translations from Dutch or German into French where something has gone awry; in fact, with some I find myself translating (into English) texts in French that have been poorly translated from ... English (sometimes Indian or Japanese, etc. English, etc., sometimes real-native-tongue English). Were I simply to translate 'what is in front of me', my English rendition would ludicrous - and I don't want people suspecting ME of getting the translation wrong. In such cases I'm generally successful in tracking down the original English on the Ouèbbhe, often from different sources, identifying where and why mistakes were made in the French translation, and piecing it all together so it makes sense in English. When the French is also to be published, I point out the problems and suggest corrections. Customers often then rewrite their French to align their text on my English adaptation of their original French! Translation is not about just 'translating the words'. I'm not 'making assumptions'. I am envisaging the possibility that the French translation is not as accurate as it could be. If colleagues confirm that there are grounds for my suspicion, I will refer the matter to the customer (but provide alternative translations for them to choose from).

Asker: Thanks for your lively interest in this problem, Liz. It definitely originates in Brazil. I don't want answers in Portuguese because I don't speak the language. I assume that any FR to/from PORT. translator here can respond in French. Asking Fr-Fr or Fr-En translators would not help me get to the root of the problem, unless they are equally conversant with Portuguese. As it is, the Ouèbbhe seems to have come to the rescue, and I have posted in Discussion some examples showing that 'carregamento' (assuming that is the original word) can indeed be translated by 'livraison / envoi', 'spedizione', and a host of similar meanings in other languages. I would have liked human confirmation though. I can know go back to the customer and say with some confidence that I think 'vitesse de livraison' would be better.
