important step towards food independence
"Each seedling planted is an important step towards food independence."
Compare with this:
"Reasonably, people are thinking more and more about food independence. That’s excellent, and something we hold as a central tenet of Luciferian Dominionism; food is control. If you don’t control your food, you don’t control your life. Further, we can look at the ability to grow our own food as “flattening the food curve” for people who can’t. Every bushel of vegetables that you haul in leaves more for the very many people who can’t grow their own."

Valuable contribution to (self) sufficiency
Valuable contribution to (self) sufficiency

: "valuable" is good. I'm not sure that "(self) sufficiency" works, because of the brackets/parentheses. Leave away "self" and you are left with "contribution to sufficiency", which isn't quite what "Beitrag zur Versorgung" means.

How about (self) needs? "Valuable contribution to (self) needs." Makes sense?

Wendy Streitparth
: I'd say: towards being self-sufficient

contribution to (home-grown) food supplies
I would probably translate the whole sentence as follows: "Every young plant is an important contribution to your (home-grown) food supplies." - adding in "your".
Peer comment(s):

Sakshi Garg
: home-grown is not suitable here as it's some related to an individual's sufficiency/needs

Self-sufficiency (in this context) is about growing one's own food.

: To balance out the disagree above - I think this is absolutely fine! I'd be tempted to rephrase to something like "contribution to growing (our own)/(your own) food", but that's really splitting hairs!

Thanks, Jennifer. I like your rephrasing.

contribution to subsistence farming
This would assume that jungpflanz is interpreted as seedling in the context of food or crops here, and not just a young plant.
