Indeed I feel it could potentially be either and have included a note with my translation to this effect, as the German seems rather unequivocal here. As far as I can tell, however, the Produktkennzeichnung isn't directly related to the Gliederung, which I see as meaning the physical design of the case/lid.

@ Jennifer My suggestion was based on the related question for "Gliederung" where David had provided links to several images showing the brand name on the lid of a notebook. I consider "branding" to have both meanings: the one explained by you and, in a stricter sense, the notion of referring to the logo/brand etc. visible on the product.

@ David Williams Alternatively, 'clear/bold product marking' also comes to my mind.
'Product branding' makes me think of naming the product, that is, deciding what a product will be called.
