@Kim Metzger Definitely!
I assume that there is a mistake in the source document because pieces didn't fit. I have corrected my entry below.
Kim Metzger Oct 1, 2017:
18 Uhr does not equal 18 hours. 18 Uhr is 6 pm.
star3098 (asker) Sep 30, 2017:
Selbstständige Kälteerhaltung: 18 stunden The man from customer service said it must mean: "Selbstständige Kälteerhaltung: 18 stunden" which would make it: "time before temp. loss: 18 hours" in English.
Elif Baykara Narbay Sep 30, 2017:
18 Uhr = 18 hours (assuming there is a mistake in the source document) referring to 18 hours of run time of the fridge.
Elif Baykara Narbay Sep 30, 2017:
Technical term Well, I cannot thoroughly explain it because it is beyond my knowledge. It is a reference value, a minimum/maximum temperature for a particular area and it is used in determining the size and/or other factors for cooling/heating equipment.
I checked it again, the translation I have proposed is the exact translation in use.

I don't know... It just doesn't make any sense in the context. It says:
"Auslegungstemperatur sonstige Fächer: 18 Uhr"
I guess I had better call customer support and clarify what is meant by this
star3098 (asker) Sep 30, 2017:
But what does it acutally mean? "design temperature of other compartments" does not ring a bell for me, either. I am no tech person, though... Can anyone tell me what it means in simple English or German?

German term (edited): Auslegungstemperatur sonstige Fächer (from a fridge spec sheet)
Selected

design temperature of other compartments

Auslegungstemperatur is the design (project) temperature.

I assume that "sonstige Fächer" stands for "der sonstigen Fächer".

The "Fächer" can be compartments, drawers etc. You can better deduct it from the source document.

The cooling design temp is the higher of the two temperatures because that is the temperature when the thermostat causes the heat pump system to start pumping heat out of the area which is controlled by the thermostat.
