projection angle
Its is indeed 'Anl*o*ten'. This term is somehow misapplied here. It is more commonly used in cardiac ultrasound/echocardiography rather than cardiac CT and/or angiography. Literally akin 'sounding'.
It means the angle (of the ultrasound probe) which is optimal for imaging of certain anatomic structures. Here it obviously refers to the tilt of the CT gantry or the angle of the X-ray tube.
Note that in the LAO projection ventricular and atrial structures cannot be distinguished. In most hearts, an LAO *projection angle' of approximately 30° will align along the interventricular septum.

Many possible *projection angles* can correctly represent the native aortic valve plane in a given patient....
However, to more accurately determine the valve plane, multiple orthogonal aortic root angiograms can be performed until an angiographic *projection angle* is found in which the base of all aortic valve cusps/sinuses of Valsalva are on a straight line.

: Never (!) apply solder to the aortic valve or the coronary arteries... ;-) //edit: I would not dare to perform left heart catheterization with a previously 'soldered' catheter. So, to use one of SJLD's favourite phrases: 'Don't try this at home!' ;-))
