German term

gezielte Zuwendungen

German to English Social Sciences Psychology
Describing the reason's for a child's impaired development, among others:

-"unzureichend speilerische Anregung, unzureichend gezielte Zuwendungen", etc.

I don't want to translate freely here, as I may be very off. Does anyone know the idiomatic phych. term for it?

Thanks!

Discussion

Helen Shiner Mar 4, 2012:
with Armorel Insufficient appropriate (undivided) attention from caregivers.
thefastshow Mar 4, 2012:
Does the text provide a name or phrase for the " impaired development" e.g. Attention deficit disorder (ADHD) etc.? If so this would be very helpful to see if there is an official phrase .. please check so we can verify....
Armorel Young Mar 4, 2012:
I don't think it's about care so much as attention - in my view it's about the carer or parent actually paying attention to the chile (listening to it, noticing what it's interested in, talking to it, etc.)
Inge Meinzer Mar 4, 2012:
@Horst I agree. How about "targeted care", gets lots of ghits and sounds right to me in this context.
Lirka (asker) Mar 4, 2012:
Yes, an 'official" phrase would be great. :)
Horst Huber (X) Mar 4, 2012:
Somewhere in the area of attention, engagement or involvement. Apologies, I am quite aware you need the official phrase.
