German term
Lichtleiter
German to English
Tech/Engineering
Telecom(munications)
Mobiltelefone
I found a translation as "optical fibres", but I'm not sure if that's right here. Can anyone confirm?
TIA
Kay

light pipes
Optical fibers is a valid option however, I'm tempted to think it's light pipes because they will perfectly in your context, as opposed to optical fibers. IMO the lenses point in that direction, too. Again, I don't see how optical fibers (being used for data transmission) go along together. So it's light pipes to me...
OTOH optical fibers is a pretty generic term, so it's not wrong.
In light pipes, rays enter a fiber optic cable and reflect from the
walls an indeterminate number of times until they emerge...

Comment: "Thanks Klaus
This isn't a term I'd heard before, but I found an exact reference to mobile phone displays at http://www.c-plastics.com/Optical.html . Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

optical fibre / fiber
They're used in flashing antennas - stylish!
Eg:

Actually that should be antennae, not antennas!

And just to be completely accurate, we\'re talking optical fibres, plural
