Discussion

Domini Lucas Jul 7, 2018:
@Kyriacos I keep out of any discussions about who might win the World Cup! More than life is worth. Just smile and tilt! (as a wise friend of mine would say!)
Kyriacos Georghiou Jul 7, 2018:
Perhaps your husband is right ... for a change :)
Stranger things happen ... England might win the World Cup!
Domini Lucas Jul 7, 2018:
@Kyriacos I totally agree with you that body must be part of the answer. But crouched body doesn't sound natural to me in UK English. I asked my 100% English husband whether he would use it (in case I was too close to it) and he also said he wouldn't. But we could be wrong of course :-)
Kyriacos Georghiou Jul 7, 2018:
I feel that in this case the word 'body' must be part of the answer unless it is interpreted as 'crouching position', 'crouching posture' etc.
Domini Lucas Jul 7, 2018:
crouched @Kyriakos I'm afraid I've not heard crouched up. Only crouched https://www.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/definition/englis...
Crouched over something or crouched down http://oxforddictionary.so8848.com/search?word=crouch but that wouldn't seem to fit here.

Also, the reason I didn't add an agree with crouch is because to me it feels more active than curled up so it doesn't seem to fit as well with body language/posture. I agree that it is a closed position though that could convey a sense of insecurity/fear in the right context.

Peer comment(s):

agree Domini Lucas : I think this is the most English. Funnily enough just used it in an FR-EN question! Here is an example using curled up for closed body language http://changingminds.org/techniques/body/closed_body.htm

Ίσως και huddled body, αλλά νομίζω όχι στη γυμναστική.

ΟΚ, τα κοίταξα καλύτερα. Πάνε και τα δύο τότε.
Note from asker:
Αφορά χαρακτηριστικά γλώσσας του σώματος που δείχνουν και κάτι αντίστοιχο όσον αφορά την προσωπικότητα. Πχ. κουλουριασμένο σώμα: ανασφαλής με το σώμα του/της

Perhaps, in this context, 'crouched-up body' might be better
Peer comment(s):

neutral Domini Lucas : I think we usually use crouched without the word body so doesn’t feel quite right to my ear. If using crouched omit the word body
