I think what happened is that the name of the firm was simply cut and pasted wholesale into a context (the person's position) where it needed to be adjusted slightly in order to fit grammatically, but wasn't. I think that in the end it is just a plural marker, even though it doesn't fit "nicely" here."

My guess would be that 'para' is acting as a plural marker, and that the letter is addressed to more than one person, not just the person named at the beginning.
