Sgraffito You'll need to know what you're dealing with before translating, but this may well be "sgraffito" work, in which the decoration is scratched into plaster to reveal a different colour underneath. "Graffito", which doesn't necessarily reveal a different colour, is used by some in place of "sgraffito" and may thus be considered correct. Unless you have very good reason for thinking it's "graffiti", which of course it may be, I'd avoid the term. As Tom said a few terms back, the important thing is not to earn points but to get the right answer, so someone may wish to see if "sgraffito" is a possibility.
