This is found in a text about Vienna which mentions the aroma of Sachertorte and pani zuccherati lingering in the streets. Would it be sufficient to say cakes? I would think a Pane zuccherato is a kind of sponge cake. Any ideas welcome.

although the literal translation is sweet bread, it doesn't really make much sense. sponge cake or pan cake sound more relevant, as the topic was about sachertorte and similar products.
