Ad uso autentica prefettura

I understood the opposite! ie. that the signature could BE USED as evidence for a certification or legalization. the client is always right.

so perhaps:
the signature below is to be used after authentication/legalization/certification in a Prefettura
or
the signature is to be certified/notarized at a prefettura

something like this? the word "autentica" exists under several forms in the ProZ terminology database.

What the client says: Ad uso autentica prefettura: significa che è necessario autenticare la firma presso la Prefettura.

(where we usually put: "for all legal purposes")

There is... the seal of the university before it.
After it, it says: il capo servizio didattica (name).
