I do not know what they mean here. I am assuming that "canne" as a spliff of some sort. If this is correct, then is Gonfio suggesting he was stoned? If this is also correct, I have no idea what is meant by "copione" here.

That's the idea. Here "gonfio" could mean totally full of weed, rather than physically swollen.
