L'articolo "il"

Da Italiano a Inglese Altro Modi di dire/Massime/Proverbi
Ovviamente mi riferisco ad una persona molto alta e ad una molto bassa che fanno coppia. Esiste un equivalente traduttivo in inglese? Grazie...

Mutt and Jeff

Son 2 personaggi dei fumeti, uno basso e uno alto. Si usa proprio per indicare l'articolo il.

As a slang term, "Mutt and Jeff" refers to any pairing of a tall and a short man, though it could mean two men of widely dissimilar characteristics.

They even left a lasting pop culture coloquialism in their wake: "Mutt and Jeff" is often used to describe a tall and short pair.

Long and Short/ Pat & Patachon

The comedian duo "Pat & Patachon" was in the day of silent movie the most famous couple and anticipated couples like Laurel & Hardy or Abbott & Costello. In Contrast to Laurel & Hardy, who appeared in suit and bowler, the outfit of Pat & Patachon reminded one to vagabonds, who run around in torn clothes and used an old rope as a belt.
Pat was the tall guy, Patachon the small one. Together they presented at the same time the Danish stronghold of the international movie in those days (together wit the legendary Asta Nielsen, who established the movie as art). The two celebrated huge successes in whole Europe and became famous in countless countries - in Germany and Austria as "Pat & Patachon", in Scandinavia as "Fy og Bi", in the Netherlands as "Watt en 1/2 Watt", in France as "Doublepatte et Patachon", in Great Britain as "Long & Short" and in Sweden as "Telegrafstopen och Tilhengern."
