lookout Explanation: The look out is normally placed on the bridge wings of the ship to assist the officers in identifying ships or other objects. During dark the lookout stays inside the bridge. During daylight at the estremity of the bridge wing, and during bad conditions (fog) there will also be lookout at the bow of the vessel. The crow's nest is no longer used for lookouts; this tradition dates back to sailing ships, where there was little rrom for someone to stand on deck |
