butterfly jacquard? In the absence of a photo, I would use "butterfly pattern" in cases where "trama" is translated in a figurative sense. In cases where "trama" is translated as "warp and weft," I might go with "butterfly jacquard" as a sort of generic cover for the different types of fabric woven on a Jacquard loom.

This textile glossary lists the 'farfalla' as a tool used when weaving brocades and arazzi, called a butterfly in English:
http://www.paolabesana.it/images/news/paola besana - anna ra... ((gomitolino a farfalla per passare la trama degli arazzi o tessuti a broccato)

And this website refers to butterfly yarn: http://www.warpedforgood.com/weaving-glossary/ , used for tapestry or weft inlay.
Since I can't find any hits of "butterfly weave" online in English, I wonder if they mean tapestry or brocade? It would made sense if we're talking about upholstery/furniture.

Good In my opinion "butterfly pattern" or "butterfly weave" would be perfect.
