Portuguese term

trela inglesa

Portuguese to English Other Livestock / Animal Husbandry Bullfighting
'Como os meus cães morreram, pedi um Galgo, e pedi uma trela inglesa.'

Could this be a British slip lead? I tried to compare pictures but they don't look very similar.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Thanks! That's what I used, so I'm closing the question. There's no point in keeping it open. Thanks for your help, Nick!
Nick Taylor Apr 19, 2016:
Forget choke lead. Given that the text deals with "saloios" it is more likely that the dog will be used for coursing, so the slip lead makes sense.
Tania Pires (asker) Apr 19, 2016:
@ Nick That's the one I used because of what you just said. I saw it was associated with greyhounds. Is the choke lead the same though? It seemed like the same thing from the reference. I decided to go with the 'slip lead' though.
Nick Taylor Apr 19, 2016:
I must say that a "Slip Lead" ...is more in context here as it has to do with greyhounds and lurchers.
Nick Taylor Apr 19, 2016:
The lead in question depends on the purpose You need to know more from the source.

English leash

There are very few references on the internet, so I think this may not be a specialized term... maybe it's just an ordinary leash from England.
