Portuguese term

referência para

Portuguese to English Medical Medical (general) MRI report
Referência para hipoplasia do segmento A1 da artéria cerebral anterior direita.

This is a complete sentence in a cerebral MRI report.

I'm unsure if 'referência para' in this context means that there is evidence of an A1 segment hypoplasia of the right, anterior cerebral artery or if it could mean 'reference image'.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Context! I see that you're a new poster. Context is crucial and you will find that answerers constantly complain that not enough context is provided.

Thanks for the suggestions so far. I should have said that the sentence is located in the body of the text describing the findings of the MRI, normally 'referral for' would be found in indications for test or the conclusion which makes me unsure it could mean this here.

referral for

This is my understanding. The author is referring to patient with this diagnosis to a higher level of the health/medical system for more extensive studies and treatment.

In my explanation, I should have said: "The author is referring the patient ..."
