Russian term

объединяйтесь

Russian to English Other Linguistics
"ВИЧ-инфицированные" всех стран объединяйтесь!
In the translation I am currently editing this phrase has been simply translated as unite (HIV-infected from all our the world).
Yet, this phrase is actually a call for unification and it just doesn't seem to convey this meaning by putting unit at the end of this phrase. Anyone knows how to cleverly convey a call for unification to a specific group of people?

agree Rachel Douglas : The original quotes one of the most famous slogans of the past 165 years; don't see a good reason for the translation not to do the same. Why, because supposedly Russian-speakers would remember it, and English-speakers wouldn't?

Peer comment(s):

agree Lena Grainger : "join together" sounds ok. But trade strains?!... "-> :) this was an example that I found on google.. It´s just that unite sounds TOO much like the good old Karl" true, which is why I think your suggestion is the best.

help yourselves

as in "HIV-infected, help yourselves!"

Provided that the context is (like) this:

"ВИЧ-инфицированные" всех стран объединяйтесь!

Никто, кроме Вас самих, ни в какой стране Мира никогда не будет ставать на защиту правды о СПИДе, пока данная теория приносит аферистам материальный доход неизмеримых масштабов.

neutral Rachel Douglas : Careful! Think about the other sense of 'Help yourself!" and read it again.

:)) It is always something. Still, seems to be a fit for the context I've given.

join your hands

just a version of TranslatrMadrid's "join together"
